Each independent wall is divided into full-width vertical strips. The calculator adjusts each drop for trimming and the selected pattern settings, finds how many full drops fit in a purchase unit, and rounds up to whole units.
Walls with equal adjusted drop lengths share a strip pool. Different wall heights are calculated as separate conservative groups because mixing unequal drops across rolls is a packing problem.

A 12 × 15 ft room has a 54 ft perimeter. With 27 in wallpaper, the perimeter requires 24 strips before drop-length planning.
Single roll, double roll, and bolt terminology varies. Enter the actual physical width and total material length of the unit being purchased.
Doors and windows reduce net wall area but do not reduce the conservative strip count. Pattern alignment and offcuts often prevent area deductions from translating into fewer rolls.
For offset matches, enter the manufacturer-provided additional allowance per drop. The calculator does not assume every offset equals half the repeat.
Theoretical roll area ignores whole vertical drops, pattern alignment, trimming, and unusable remainder. Roll purchasing is therefore strip/drop based.
No-match wallpaper uses the trimmed wall height. Straight match rounds that height upward to a complete repeat. Drop/offset mode first aligns to the repeat and then adds the explicit allowance entered by the user.
